Picking up decades after Gene Roddenberry's original Star Trek, The Next Generation follows the intergalactic adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crew aboard the all-new USS Enterprise NCC-1701D. This phenomenally successful follow-up series ran from 1987 to 1994 and created a new generation of Star Trek fans.

This planet painting was used in several episode of TNG. White paper was slipped into the cut out circle to obtain an accurate silhouette which was used as a hold-out matte in compositing to place the planet in a star field background. The painting was attached with the top overhanging the mat board and has received some bends and folds from storage.
