Movie: Ghostbusters II

Item: Set of Photo-Rotos  - ( $349.00 )

In director Ivan Reitman's sequel, after waging a war on slime that cost New York City millions, the Ghostbusters --Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray (Dan Aykroyd), Egon (Harold Ramis) and Winston (Ernie Hudson) -- find themselves out of business. With new careers, the group reunites when an ancient tyrant preparing to return to the earthly domain targets the baby of Venkman's ex-girlfriend (Sigourney Weaver) as the new home for its soul.

This is a set of photo-rotos used during animation of the ghost scenes in the courthouse.

PHOTO-ROTOS: [photographic rotoscopes] - A photographic print made from each frame of live action film enabling the animator to animate both character and effects to the action and background information. In the old days one would project the live action onto a table top and trace the information one would need to execute the shot. Every shot that needed animation would be photo-rotoed in its entirety. Not all photo-rotos were married with animation, for instance if an animated character leaves the scene, or, intermittent frames of electricity as another example.

These four pictures are numbered 7, 11, 16 and 29. Each picture is black & white and measures approximately 14 x 17 and are from frames of actual shots during ghost animation that were printed as a guide to animate the ghostly scenes. This artwork was shot as a separate element and was composited with the live action by the Optical Department.
